At Traveltron, we believe customers should be able to understand the price of their travel before completing a purchase.
This Taxes & Fees Policy explains how taxes, government charges, supplier charges, Traveltron fees, optional services, and other amounts may apply to flight reservations, car rental reservations, cruise reservations, and travel consultation services arranged through traveltronfares.com.
The taxes and fees applicable to a particular transaction depend on factors such as the type of travel service, itinerary, destination, supplier, fare or rate selected, services requested, and applicable laws and regulations.
Please review the total price, applicable taxes, fees, supplier charges, and optional services before completing your purchase.
Traveltron aims to clearly communicate the price applicable to a transaction before the customer authorizes payment.
Where a price is displayed or quoted, mandatory amounts required to purchase the applicable travel product will be presented in accordance with applicable pricing and advertising requirements.
Where permitted, certain components of the total price may also be separately identified so customers can better understand what they are paying for.
A fee charged by Traveltron will not intentionally be represented as a government tax or government-imposed charge.
Before completing a purchase, customers should review the final amount presented together with any applicable booking conditions.
For flight reservations, the price presented to the customer may consist of several underlying components, including:
Where applicable U.S. airfare advertising requirements apply, the airfare displayed to customers will include mandatory taxes, fees, and surcharges required to purchase the ticket.
A breakdown may be provided for informational purposes where appropriate, but the customer should rely on the total price presented for the reservation when determining the amount required to purchase the ticket.
Government taxes and charges are imposed by governmental authorities rather than Traveltron.
Depending on the itinerary, these may include taxes or charges imposed by federal, state, provincial, local, airport, security, immigration, customs, tourism, or foreign governmental authorities.
The type and amount of taxes applicable to a reservation can vary according to factors such as:
Traveltron does not independently establish government tax rates.
Certain charges associated with a reservation may be imposed by an airline, car rental provider, cruise operator, consolidator, wholesaler, fulfillment partner, or other travel supplier.
These are not necessarily government taxes.
Depending on the travel product, supplier-imposed amounts may include carrier surcharges, supplier fees, booking-related charges, facility charges, or other mandatory amounts associated with the travel service.
Where a breakdown is provided, Traveltron seeks to appropriately distinguish government-imposed amounts from charges imposed by Traveltron or another commercial party.
Traveltron may charge a fee for certain professional or assisted services.
Depending upon the service requested, this may include an applicable:
Not every reservation or service will necessarily involve a separate Traveltron fee.
Where a Traveltron fee applies to a transaction, the material fee will be disclosed to the customer before authorization of the applicable charge.
Traveltron fees are charges for services provided by Traveltron and should not be interpreted as government taxes, airline taxes, or charges imposed by an underlying travel provider unless expressly identified otherwise.
Eligible flight reservations may be completed directly online through traveltronfares.com or with assistance from a Traveltron travel expert.
The price or service arrangement available through a human-assisted channel may differ from an online booking where the service being provided, inventory source, or applicable professional assistance differs.
Where an additional Traveltron service fee applies to an assisted transaction, it will be disclosed before the customer authorizes the applicable purchase.
Certain airline services may not be included in the ticket price unless expressly stated.
Optional services may include:
These services may be purchased separately and may be subject to the airline's own pricing and conditions.
Traveltron does not control prices independently established by an airline for optional services.
Baggage allowances and charges vary by airline, route, cabin, fare type, loyalty status, and other factors.
A flight ticket does not necessarily include checked baggage.
Where baggage is not included, the applicable airline may charge separately for checked bags, additional bags, overweight or oversized baggage, or other baggage services.
Customers should review the applicable baggage conditions before travel.
Traveltron primarily provides car rental reservations through a Request a Quote and live-call model.
A car rental quotation may include amounts such as:
Where reasonably available and applicable to the transaction, the customer will be informed of the amount payable for the reservation before confirming the booking.
Some car rental costs depend on choices made by the renter or circumstances that cannot reasonably be determined at the time of the initial quotation.
Depending upon the rental provider and reservation, additional amounts payable directly to the rental company may include:
These amounts are not necessarily Traveltron charges.
Where a charge depends upon an optional product selected at the rental counter, renter eligibility, vehicle use, damage, fuel consumption, toll usage, or another future event, it may not be included in the initial Traveltron quotation.
A rental company may require a security deposit or temporary authorization hold when the vehicle is collected.
A security deposit or authorization hold is generally not the same as the rental price.
The amount, payment method, release timeframe, and other deposit requirements are established by the applicable rental provider.
Customers should review the rental provider's requirements before vehicle pickup.
Traveltron provides cruise reservations primarily through a Request a Quote and live-call model.
Depending upon the cruise product, the quoted or final reservation price may include:
The components included in a cruise quotation may vary according to the cruise operator, sailing, destination, cabin category, promotion, and booking conditions.
Certain cruise-related expenses may be optional, usage-based, destination-specific, or payable separately.
Depending upon the cruise line and reservation, these may include:
Customers should review the applicable cruise quotation and cruise operator's conditions to determine what is and is not included.
Traveltron may provide travel consultation independently from the underlying travel product.
Where a professional travel consultation fee applies, the amount will be communicated before the customer authorizes the service.
A consultation fee may apply to services such as itinerary research, travel planning, evaluation of existing reservations, research into available alternatives, or other agreed professional assistance.
A Traveltron consultation fee is not an airline, car rental, cruise, or government charge.
Certain services requested after a reservation has been completed may involve additional charges.
Depending upon the request, these may include:
Any applicable Traveltron post-booking fee should be disclosed before the customer authorizes that service.
Supplier-imposed charges and Traveltron service fees are separate unless expressly stated otherwise.
Customers should also refer to our Post-Booking Fee Policy and Refund & Cancellation Policy for additional information.
A fare difference is not necessarily a service fee.
When a customer voluntarily changes a flight or another travel product, the newly selected travel option may cost more than the original reservation.
The difference between the original eligible value and the price of the replacement option may be payable by the customer in addition to any applicable supplier or Traveltron service charges.
Where a transaction involves different currencies, the customer's bank, card issuer, payment network, supplier, or payment processor may perform currency conversion.
A financial institution may also impose a foreign transaction fee, currency conversion fee, or similar charge under its own agreement with the customer.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, such bank or card-issuer charges are not imposed or retained by Traveltron.
The amount ultimately appearing on a customer's account may therefore differ slightly where currency conversion or issuer charges apply.
Some travel transactions may involve more than one party in the payment or fulfillment process.
For example, one component of a transaction may be processed by Traveltron while another may be processed by an airline, supplier, consolidator, fulfillment partner, or other disclosed party.
Where a transaction is structured using separate charges, the customer should be informed of the material payment arrangement and total amount before authorization.
Multiple legitimate charges associated with the same reservation do not necessarily mean that the customer has been charged more than the agreed total amount.
Changing a travel itinerary may affect the taxes and government charges associated with the reservation.
A new route, airport, destination, travel date, or other itinerary modification may result in:
Any refund of unused taxes is subject to the applicable fare conditions, supplier procedures, and governing law.
Taxes and fees do not necessarily have the same refundability as the underlying travel product.
Certain government taxes associated with unused travel may be refundable even where the underlying fare is non-refundable.
Other charges may be non-refundable because the associated service has already been provided or because applicable supplier conditions make them non-refundable.
Traveltron will process eligible refunds in accordance with applicable supplier rules, contractual obligations, and mandatory law.
Please refer to our Refund & Cancellation Policy for detailed refund conditions.
Travel inventory is dynamic.
Prices, taxes, supplier charges, fare availability, vehicle rates, cruise rates, and other travel-related amounts may change while a customer is considering an itinerary or quotation.
A preliminary search result, Request a Quote response, telephone discussion, or email quotation does not guarantee that the same price will remain available indefinitely.
The applicable price is the price presented and accepted in connection with the completed transaction, subject to applicable law.
Traveltron does not intend to add an undisclosed mandatory Traveltron fee after a customer has authorized a transaction.
Where a mandatory Traveltron charge applies to a transaction, it should be included or clearly disclosed as required before payment authorization.
Optional services selected later by the customer, customer-requested post-booking services, supplier-imposed charges arising later, fare differences, and charges resulting from subsequent events are separate from the amount originally authorized.
Before authorizing a Traveltron transaction, customers should review:
Customers should ask a Traveltron representative for clarification before authorizing payment if they do not understand a material charge associated with an assisted transaction.
Traveltron makes reasonable efforts to present accurate travel pricing.
Travel information may originate from third-party distribution systems, APIs, suppliers, consolidators, or other sources, and errors can occasionally occur.
Where an obvious pricing, tax, technical, or system error is identified before a reservation is completed, the correct information should be presented before the customer is asked to proceed.
Traveltron will not intentionally use an erroneous or incomplete price to obtain authorization for a materially different transaction.
Nothing in this Taxes & Fees Policy is intended to waive or restrict any consumer or passenger right that cannot legally be waived.
Where applicable law imposes specific requirements concerning airfare advertising, pricing transparency, tax disclosure, mandatory fees, refunds, or consumer authorization, those requirements will control.
Traveltron aims to provide customers with clear information concerning the amount they are being asked to pay before completing a transaction. Government-imposed taxes, supplier charges, Traveltron fees, and optional services are different categories of charges and should not be interpreted as being imposed by the same party.
For flight reservations subject to applicable U.S. airfare advertising requirements, displayed airfare prices include mandatory taxes, government fees, and mandatory surcharges required to purchase the ticket. Where individual components are separately identified, the breakdown is provided for transparency and does not replace the applicable total price.
Optional products or services selected separately by the customer, charges arising from post-booking requests, and amounts dependent upon future events or usage may be additional. Any material Traveltron fee applicable to a transaction will be disclosed before the customer authorizes the applicable charge.
