BAGGAGE POLICY

Baggage Policy

Baggage allowances, restrictions, and fees vary significantly by airline, route, fare type, cabin, destination, passenger status, and other factors.

This Baggage Policy explains how baggage works when customers purchase flight reservations through Traveltron and how travelers can determine the rules applicable to their particular itinerary.

Traveltron, LLC Baggage Policy

Baggage allowances and fees vary by airline, fare, route, and passenger. Please review the applicable baggage information before travel.

1. Baggage Allowance Is Determined by the Airline

Traveltron does not independently establish airline baggage allowances, baggage fees, size limits, weight limits, or prohibited-item rules.

These requirements are established by the airline operating or marketing the applicable flight, subject to applicable law.

Depending upon the ticket purchased, baggage may include:

  • A personal item;
  • Carry-on baggage;
  • Checked baggage;
  • A combination of the above; or
  • No complimentary baggage beyond an eligible personal item.

A ticket purchased through Traveltron does not automatically include checked baggage unless the applicable fare or booking information specifically indicates that checked baggage is included.

2. Review Baggage Information Before Booking

Customers should review the baggage conditions applicable to their selected flight before completing a reservation.

Where required by applicable law, baggage information and applicable fees will be disclosed or made available during the booking process.

For reservations completed with assistance from a Traveltron travel expert, customers may also ask the representative about baggage information applicable to the itinerary being considered.

Because baggage rules can differ even between fares offered by the same airline, customers should not assume that baggage benefits received on a previous trip will apply to a new reservation.

3. Carry-On Baggage

Airlines establish their own rules concerning carry-on baggage.

These rules may specify:

  • Number of permitted carry-on items;
  • Maximum dimensions;
  • Maximum weight;
  • Personal-item allowance;
  • Storage requirements;
  • Restricted articles; and
  • Applicable carry-on baggage charges.

Some fares, particularly certain restrictive or basic fare products, may have different carry-on conditions.

Customers should verify the rules applicable to their specific fare and operating airline before arriving at the airport.

4. Checked Baggage

Checked baggage allowances may depend upon:

  • Airline;
  • Route;
  • Origin and destination;
  • Fare type;
  • Cabin;
  • Number of checked bags;
  • Bag weight;
  • Bag dimensions;
  • Frequent-flyer status;
  • Eligible payment-card benefits;
  • Military or other qualifying status; and
  • Other airline-specific conditions.

A checked-baggage fee may apply even when a passenger is otherwise permitted to check baggage.

Additional fees may apply for additional, overweight, oversized, or special baggage.

5. Baggage Fees

Baggage fees are generally established and collected under the applicable airline's baggage policy.

Where a baggage charge applies, it should not be interpreted as a Traveltron service fee unless expressly identified as such.

Baggage fees may differ according to the passenger, itinerary, airline, fare, number of bags, method or time of payment, and other eligibility factors.

Where applicable law requires baggage-fee information to be provided in connection with the sale of air transportation, the required information will be provided or made accessible as required.

6. Baggage May Not Be Included in the Advertised Fare

Unless specifically stated otherwise, customers should not assume that an advertised airfare includes checked baggage.

The airfare covers the air transportation and inclusions associated with the particular fare selected.

Optional baggage services may be additional.

Where baggage is included with a fare, the applicable allowance remains subject to airline restrictions concerning number, size, weight, route, and other conditions.

7. Basic, Restricted & Special Fares

Certain Basic Economy, Light, Saver, promotional, bulk, consolidator, private, negotiated, or other restricted fares may have baggage conditions different from standard fares.

Depending upon the airline and fare, such tickets may:

  • Exclude checked baggage;
  • Restrict carry-on baggage;
  • Require payment for checked bags;
  • Have different baggage benefits;
  • Carry additional restrictions; or
  • Have baggage benefits determined by the operating airline.

Customers should review the conditions of the particular fare rather than relying upon general baggage information associated with the airline.

8. Codeshare & Multiple-Airline Itineraries

Some itineraries involve more than one airline or a codeshare arrangement in which one airline markets the flight and another airline operates it.

Baggage rules on these itineraries can be more complicated.

The baggage rules applicable to a journey may depend upon the airlines involved, ticket construction, itinerary, applicable regulations, and carrier agreements.

Customers should review the baggage information associated with the actual ticket and, where necessary, confirm the applicable requirements with the airline before departure.

The airline shown prominently on a reservation is not necessarily the airline physically operating every flight segment.

9. International Travel

International baggage rules may differ from domestic baggage rules.

Allowances may sometimes be expressed by:

  • Number of pieces;
  • Maximum weight per piece;
  • Combined weight; or
  • A combination of piece and weight limitations.

Different baggage conditions may apply to different portions of an international itinerary.

Travelers should check their specific ticket and airline requirements before departure.

10. Overweight & Oversized Baggage

Airlines may impose additional charges where checked baggage exceeds their standard weight or dimensional limits.

An overweight-baggage charge may apply in addition to the standard checked-baggage charge.

Similarly, oversized baggage may incur separate charges.

Extremely heavy or large items may not be accepted as ordinary checked baggage at all.

Customers traveling with unusually large or heavy items should contact the applicable airline before travel.

11. Special Baggage

Special baggage may be subject to separate airline requirements, advance arrangements, capacity restrictions, additional fees, or special handling procedures.

Examples may include:

  • Sporting equipment;
  • Golf equipment;
  • Skis or snowboards;
  • Bicycles;
  • Surfboards;
  • Musical instruments;
  • Mobility equipment;
  • Medical equipment;
  • Fragile items; and
  • Other oversized or unusual articles.

Acceptance of a special item is determined by the applicable airline.

A flight reservation does not guarantee that an airline will accept a particular special item.

12. Mobility Aids & Assistive Devices

Different rules may apply to wheelchairs, mobility aids, assistive devices, and medically necessary equipment.

Passengers requiring assistance should notify the airline as early as reasonably possible and review the carrier's procedures.

Rights concerning passengers with disabilities and assistive devices may also be governed by applicable aviation and disability laws and are not limited by this Policy.

13. Infants & Children

Baggage allowances for infants and children vary by airline and ticket type.

Items such as:

  • Strollers;
  • Child restraint systems;
  • Car seats; and
  • Infant-related baggage

may be subject to special airline policies.

Parents or accompanying adults should verify the applicable airline's rules before travel.

14. Restricted & Prohibited Items

Airlines, airport authorities, security agencies, customs authorities, and governments may restrict or prohibit certain articles from carry-on or checked baggage.

Restrictions may apply to items such as:

  • Flammable materials;
  • Explosives;
  • Certain batteries;
  • Hazardous chemicals;
  • Compressed gases;
  • Certain tools;
  • Weapons;
  • Certain liquids or aerosols; and
  • Other dangerous or regulated articles.

Restrictions can differ between carry-on and checked baggage and between jurisdictions.

Travelers are responsible for complying with applicable airline, airport, security, customs, and governmental requirements.

Traveltron does not determine airport-security screening rules.

15. Lithium Batteries & Electronic Devices

Lithium batteries, power banks, spare batteries, electronic cigarettes, smart luggage, and other battery-powered devices may be subject to special aviation-safety requirements.

Some items may be permitted only in carry-on baggage, while others may be prohibited or subject to capacity restrictions.

Because safety requirements can change, travelers carrying battery-powered or electronic equipment should check current airline and applicable aviation-security requirements before travel.

16. Medicines & Medical Equipment

Travelers carrying medication, medical devices, oxygen equipment, injectable medication, or other medically necessary items should review the requirements of the airline and relevant security or governmental authorities.

International travelers should also verify whether medications they intend to carry are permitted at their destination or transit locations.

Traveltron cannot authorize an item for airport security, customs, or airline acceptance.

17. Valuable & Fragile Items

Customers should exercise particular care when traveling with valuable or fragile property.

Where appropriate, items such as money, jewelry, identification documents, travel documents, keys, essential medication, valuable electronics, and irreplaceable items should generally remain under the traveler's control, subject to applicable security and airline requirements.

Airlines may limit liability for certain categories of items placed in checked baggage.

Travelers should review the applicable airline's contract of carriage and baggage liability provisions.

18. Baggage Check-In Deadlines

Airlines establish baggage acceptance and check-in deadlines.

These deadlines may differ from passenger check-in or boarding deadlines.

Arriving after the applicable baggage cutoff may result in the airline refusing to accept baggage even if the passenger is otherwise able to travel.

Customers should check the operating airline's requirements and arrive sufficiently early to complete check-in, baggage acceptance, security screening, and boarding.

19. Delayed Baggage

If checked baggage does not arrive at the destination with the passenger, the issue should generally be reported promptly to the airline or its baggage-service representative at the airport .

The passenger should retain relevant documentation, which may include:

  • Boarding pass;
  • Baggage claim tag;
  • Ticket or itinerary;
  • Baggage report/reference number; and
  • Receipts for eligible expenses.

The airline handling the baggage claim is responsible for evaluating the claim under applicable carrier rules and law.

20. Lost Baggage

A passenger who believes checked baggage has been lost should follow the applicable airline's baggage-claim procedures.

Airlines may require a written claim and supporting documentation within specified deadlines.

Compensation eligibility and liability limits depend upon applicable law, itinerary, circumstances, and airline requirements.

Traveltron may assist customers with locating relevant airline information but does not independently determine whether baggage is legally classified as lost.

21. Damaged Baggage

Visible baggage damage should be reported to the applicable airline as soon as possible, preferably before leaving the airport where practicable.

The airline may request:

  • Baggage tags;
  • Photographs;
  • Proof of travel;
  • Proof of purchase or value;
  • A damage report; or
  • Other supporting documentation.

Normal wear and tear may be treated differently from compensable baggage damage under an airline's applicable conditions and governing law.

22. Baggage Fee Refunds

Applicable law may provide a passenger with a right to a refund of a baggage fee in certain circumstances.

For covered U.S. air transportation, federal regulations provide baggage-fee refund protections where a passenger paid to transport checked baggage and the baggage becomes significantly delayed, subject to the applicable legal requirements and reporting procedures.

Where such a mandatory refund right applies, the airline's ordinary baggage terms do not eliminate that right.

Customers should promptly report delayed baggage to the applicable airline and retain their baggage report and supporting documentation.

23. Airline Responsibility for Baggage

The applicable airline is responsible for physically accepting, transporting, handling, tracing, delivering, and resolving claims relating to baggage under its applicable conditions and governing law.

Traveltron does not physically handle passenger baggage.

Traveltron therefore cannot independently:

  • Locate delayed baggage;
  • Deliver baggage;
  • Inspect damaged baggage;
  • Approve airline baggage claims;
  • Waive airline baggage restrictions; or
  • Guarantee compensation from an airline.

Traveltron may, where reasonably possible, assist a customer in identifying the appropriate airline contact or applicable reservation information.

24. Baggage Purchased Separately

Customers may sometimes purchase baggage directly from an airline after ticketing.

Any baggage product purchased directly from an airline is subject to that airline's payment, cancellation, refund, and baggage conditions.

A charge made directly by an airline should not be interpreted as a Traveltron charge merely because the underlying flight was reserved through Traveltron.

25. Changes to an Itinerary

Changing a flight may also change the baggage allowance or baggage price.

For example, a replacement itinerary may involve:

  • A different airline;
  • A different fare family;
  • A different cabin;
  • A different route; or
  • Different baggage conditions.

Customers should therefore review baggage information again whenever an itinerary is changed or reissued.

Previously purchased baggage services may not automatically transfer to a new itinerary.

26. Frequent-Flyer, Credit Card & Other Benefits

Certain travelers may receive baggage benefits because of:

  • Airline loyalty status;
  • Eligible airline membership;
  • Qualifying credit cards;
  • Military status;
  • Cabin or fare type; or
  • Other airline programs.

Eligibility for these benefits is determined by the airline or program provider.

Traveltron does not guarantee that a traveler will qualify for a particular baggage benefit.

Customers relying on such a benefit should verify eligibility with the applicable airline.

27. Baggage Information Can Change

Airlines may change baggage fees, allowances, restrictions, or operational requirements.

For this reason, baggage information obtained when a reservation is originally made may not always reflect later changes permitted by applicable law.

Customers should check the applicable airline's current baggage requirements before departure, particularly when traveling internationally or carrying special, oversized, heavy, restricted, or valuable items.

Important Baggage Notice

Baggage allowances and fees are not the same for every airline, fare, route, or passenger. Checked baggage is not automatically included with every flight reservation. Customers should review the baggage conditions associated with their specific itinerary before completing a purchase and again before departure.

Traveltron does not independently set airline baggage fees or baggage restrictions and does not physically transport or handle baggage. Baggage acceptance, transportation, airport handling, delayed/lost/damaged baggage claims, and applicable compensation are administered by the relevant airline subject to applicable law.

Where applicable law provides mandatory baggage-related consumer rights—including an eligible baggage-fee refund—those rights are not waived or restricted by this Policy.
